Choosing wood for the floating lighthouse.

So, I'm diving into the final part of crafting the floating lighthouse. This piece turned out to be more challenging than I thought. I've reworked the ship's hull multiple times. I still can't get the shape quite right. I'll see how it looks once the top part and lighthouse are attached. Maybe then, everything will find its balance.

Right now, I have a tricky combo of bloodwood and lacewood. It's hard to add any details without disturbing its overall look. But the lighthouse needs to shine brightly. That means the rest shouldn't grab too much attention, yet it must still balance with the vibrant lacewood.

I think I've found the perfect wood piece for this. A mix of black and creamy shades. It's lovely. It should support the lacewood's stripes without overshadowing them. But the creamy wood seems a bit soft and might need special treatment. I'll check that out later.

For the lighthouse's light, I'm using Osage orange wood. It's fascinating! It's bright yellow, almost like a ripe lemon. It's not entirely matte and reflects light nicely. Picking the right slice is crucial here, so I'll need time on it.

Glue it or go for snap-fit... still undecided.
